This month’s Bird Club meeting is going virtual! Join us for a virtual screening of Monty and Rose followed by a Q & A with filmmaker, Bob Dolgan. Bird Club is co-hosted by Dan Panetti, owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Mequon.
About the film
“Monty and Rose” is a 23-minute documentary that chronicles the story of a pair of endangered piping plovers attempting to nest at Chicago’s Montrose Beach in the summer of 2019. “Monty” and “Rose” are the first Piping Plovers to nest in Chicago since 1948, and two of only 70 or so nesting pairs around the Great Lakes. The birds were propelled to national headlines when a scheduled music festival came in conflict with their nest. “Monty and Rose” was an official selection of the One Earth Film Festival and has been broadcast by WTTW Channel 11 in Chicago.
