Art and Nature: Botany and Cyanotypes
Sunday, April 6, 2025 | 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
$17.00 – $23.00This seasonal art and nature program will focus on botany, the study of plants, and the work of Anna Atkins, a botanist and photographer. She is considered to be the first person to publish a book illustrated with photographic images and is possibly the first woman to take a photograph. We will learn about her work with cyanotype photographs, also known as sun prints, and then we will take a hike to study plants and see how they live, protect themselves and reproduce. Using her cyanotype photographs as our inspiration, we will then spend time creating our own cyanotype artwork.
Shelly Rollins has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and is always looking for ways to combine art and nature. She has led numerous art inspired programs, including Art Club and Nature Journaling.
This program will take place both indoors and outdoors.
Members: $17 | Non-members: $23
