Holiday Gifts From Our Nature Store

Our Nature Store is filled with treasures that will delight any nature lover. Nature-themed books line our shelves, including field guides, environmental essay collections, and picture books for the littlest ones. You’ll also find an assortment of locally-made jewelry, cards, and crafts, and other items. Toys for children including Folkmanis Puppets and plush singing birds are also available in our store. For the Schlitz Audubon fan, pick up a t-shirt featuring our logo or a bird from our Raptor Program.

Hand-carved Ornaments by Nicaraguan Artisans

holiday gifts schlitz audubonThe fair trade project Women of the Cloud Forest offers a variety of bird ornaments made from sustainable balsa wood. A cooperative of artisans in Nicaragua hand-carve these pieces which are then painted by a collective of families who make them after their day’s work of subsistence farming. These ornaments, including an American Robin, Black-capped Chickadee, and Peregrine Falcon, are a nice addition to any holiday tree. $11.99

 

Handknits by Christel Masss

Artist Christel Maass of Fox Point uses blended yarns to knit hats, scarves, and neck warmers. Her youth and adult owl hats, only available at Schlitz Audubon, come in neutral colors and feature a knit owl on the front. The scarves and neck warmers come in colors ranging from bright blue green and purple to owl-colored tones. Some of the neck warmers also include the knitted owl patterns. Keep the whole family warm this winter! Starting at $26.

 

Pottery by Thomas Skupniewitz

The natural world inspires the wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery of Thomas Skupniewitz, a third generation tradesman. Thomas uses various surface decorating techniques to create intricately patterned vases, platters, and other pieces. His vibrant pieces feature songbirds, trees, monarchs, and other nature scenes. He makes his artwork in studios in Lake Mills and Central Wisconsin. Starting at $18.
